Summary 9. Gathering information

Collecting information is an important addition to most web sites. Who are your visitors? What do they want or need? How can you contact them? This is the basis for interactivity and community building.

Data collection with Forms can be simple text boxes or complex questionnaires and rating systems. Now you have a better idea of what is possible.

Time to start thinking about your individual projects and working with your group for support.

Canvas is set to stop accepting any submissions after the "official" end of the course. The schedule dates in the syllabus are fixed. There won't be any extensions. Please plan your time and your work schedule accordingly.

Coding projects

Review all of the information in the head section of your html code. We will be looking at Search Engine Optimization that depends upon a thorough understanding of these elements. This is what gets your site to show up in a search.

For your web development project, you need to demonstrate that you have mastered all of the topics that we have covered even if you don't plan to make a real web site like that. Portfolios are a good format for showcasing your work. These can even lead to jobs or referrals in the future.

You will be planning a web site of your own. There are millions of web sites. Creating a web site and building an online presence is easy and inexpensive, so everyone is doing it. There are personal web sites as well as sites for schools, businesses and organizations. People expect to find every business, service and person via the internet.
