Summary 5. Picture this... - Images

A picture is worth a thousand words - It is easy and inexpensive to add pictures to web pages. This has been one of the most important changes that web publishing has made.

So many great images, so many wonderful stories. Images can make a huge difference to your web site. More than just decoration, images can help you explain a complex idea or show your visitors things that just can be described in words alone.

Questions about group work - Several of you have asked about group work. The activities are described in detail in modules 1012. There are all available for you to access if you are interested. You will be communicating and sharing ideas with your group. Most of the actual work is individual work.

References to resources - Many discussions include a research requirement and require a link to a resource in your response. If you are replying to others, you may include a link to a resource to share. For these, a response that is just a personal opinion is interesting but incomplete.

Coding projects

Images in text - Pictures are usually placed in with text. It is import to learn to control how to arrange images and text so that there is some "white space"or padding about the image that is surrounded by text, Images are frequently place on the left or right so there may be text on just 3 sides. This usually looks best.

Images as links - You can make an image "hot" so it is a link. The link can be anywhere - the original full size image if your image is a thumbnail, an explanation of the image or something completely different. It is best if there is some relationship between the image and the link.
