Summary 4. Links - From here to there

Linking - the ability to embed hyperlinks in pages, is one of the most significant features of the web. The idea that a viewer could click on a word or a picture and immediately be taken to another page that provided additional relevant information was revolutionary.

This is always a great module. Now you are really developing web resources beyond anything that could have been achieved before the internet and the WorldWide Web. This is very exciting. There is more to linking and this is a great start.

Group project discussion grade - You will receive credit for the first post. Between now and the end of the course, you will need to work with the group - more posts. There is a total of 5 points for the group discussion. You will not get a final grade for the group discussion until the end of the course. Adding to the grade periodically through the project lets you know that your work as been reviewed and credited.

Late work - There may be deductions on late submissions in the future. There has be more flexibility to ensure that everyone, including those who registered late, had adequate time to catch up.

Coding projects

Voyager accounts, FTP - If you are still struggling, review the information provided about Voyager FTP. There is a video that explains how FTP works as well as specifics for Voyager accounts. If you are still having problems, you may have to visit the ATC Lab on the DeAnza campus for help.

Links within a page - If there is a lot of content on a single page, provide links so the viewer can move around - view a table of contents, skip to a specific section,go back to the top of the page,

External links - Linking to resources anywhere anyplace is fundamental to web development. Directing your viewer to the "next" resource is important. The target tag controls this. Do you want your viewers to leave your site or do you want to provide additional information in a new window?

visited, hover - Make your links stand out with styling for your links.

Just one page - Coding projects are limited to one (1) html file and a linked css file. While I appreciate your interest and effort in expanding your coding practice, for review and feedback we need to focus on the requirements for the module. You will have plenty of opportunity to demonstrate your full range of coding expertise in the individual project.

Comments - Keep those comments coming. Include comments about each important item with your code - both in html and in css. If you need to fix some code, your comments will help you locate the code to change.
