View video –David Wright: Using the Rhetorical Triangle & Rhetorical Appeals. [8:06 min.]. In this tutorial video, Wright, of CTL Studio, Furman University, South Carolina explains how to use the rhetorical triangle and the three rhetorical appeals to analyze how and why your messages can persuade audiences. Wright points out that the most effective persuasion happens when all three appeals to reason, credibility, and emotion are used. This video includes an applied exercise using a video advertisement example to help you analyze how the rhetorical components work in persuasive message design. When the critical reflection focus questions appear, you can pause the video, and work through the questions to develop your understanding of how the persuasive process is organized.
