Technology cooperation with quiz templates

Hi McCormack

Glad to hear you are interested in Quiz Templates. I have only been working on them for about a month so we are really at the antenatal stage. User:Eloquence said that he is going to install the Wikiquiz extension for testing when he gets time (Wikiversity is also using it). I'm interested in hearing more about your technology and I think it would be a good idea for you to post to the Wikieducator Google Group so that those with more Wikieducator experience can help.

Flash in WikiEducator

Flash is currently okay on WikiEducator. You could chat to User:Mackiwg for the full story. The Flash simulations that I'm testing on WikiEducator were created by the Physics Education Technology group at University of Colorado[1] and are open source. They are the best simulations for understanding complex physical concepts that I have seen. There are also several open source tools for exporting content to the flash format (.swf) Open Source Flash (I believe without the Flash IDE).

Flash is a grey area in the in the free software world as you know. The open flash project is making considerable progress and there are free software tools that can edit .fla files. While our policy on these matters is still to be written by the community - I expect that if the .fla file is uploaded for editing purposes, WikiEducator will be comfortable with flash objects, provided they are released under a license that meets the free cultural works definition.

Before Kruhly progressed with these lessons, I got clearance from phet that they were comfortable with derivative works being released under CC-BY-SA - although technically our use of these objects do not constitute a derivative work.
