OERu Oceania Regional Meeting

The Open Education Resources universitas (OERu) is holding their first Oceania Regional meeting at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) Toowoomba Campus on Thursday 27 August 2015. The OERu aim is to make education accessible to everyone. It is coordinated by the OER Foundation and is an independent, not-for-profit network that offers free online courses for students world-wide. This regional meeting will concentrate on exploring and developing open business models in open education from the perspective of OERu partner institutions.

OpenSpace Conference

To take advantage of the expertise of visiting members of the OERu and to continue the discussion around openness in education, USQ is holding an OpenSpace Conference on Friday 28 August 2015 with the theme The role of Openness in creating new futures in higher education. It will be modelled on the OpenSpace format which is a participant-driven format.

Open education greatly reduces access barriers for independent learners, provides remarkable opportunities to enhance formal educational experiences, and allows for open sharing of ideas, which represents the global and intercultural nature of education in the 21st century.

We hope that you will be able to participate in exploring openness and engaging in active discussion around the topic of openness in higher education. Due to space restrictions, registration is limited to the USQ community and OERu members.

USQ Salon Panel discussion

As part of the OpenSpace, the USQ Salon series is holding a Panel discussion on the same theme as the OpenSpace conference.

Participation in the USQ Salon Panel discussion is open and encouraged and is also available online. These events are sponsored by the University of Southern Queensland, Academic Services Division.
