Managing versus Leading challenge tasks
  • Go back to the tasks you associated with managers and leaders in the microblog activity.
  • Select the three tasks you feel are the most representative of each role.
  • Reflect on why you think these tasks particularly represent the roles of manager and leader.
  • Consider how these tasks improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Prepare a blog post of approximately 500 - 600 words where you use your reflections to answer the following questions:
  • Why do you think performance reviews are stressful for both manager and employee?
  • As an employee, what do you look for in a performance review?
  • As a manager, what should you try to communicate to your employee in a performance review.

Make sure you justify all of your responses drawing on needs-based and processed-based theories of motivation.

Remember to tag (Wordpress) or label (Blogger) your blog post using the course tag: PMAN102

Note that you can also record your reflections in a written journal, if you prefer, but sharing your insights with your classmates means that you can trigger a discussion that may lead to a deeper understanding as we can all benefit from each other's experience.
