In this tutorial we will look at how you can insert images and graphics into a page on the wiki.

There will be times when you may want to illustrate something with that picture that is worth a thousand words. Adding images into the wiki is a great way to enrich your pages and create a compelling learning experience. It is also possible to upload other media and file types on the wiki, for example .pdf documents or .mp3 audio files, and this will be covered in the intermediate level tutorials.

Currently WikiEducator supports the uploading of the following formats:

  • Image formats: .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png formats;
  • Vector graphics - .svg format;

In this tutorial we will work through the process of adding an image to a wiki page and give you opportunities to try it out for yourself on your User page. (You do have a User page by now don't you? If you don't, see: Creating an Account). Before we begin working with images, we need to look at the question of copyright and images that are permissible on WikiEducator and where to find them.
