(Comment.gif: Pooja, you may like to add this useful tables to Math Tables and Formulas. It would be great. Any help you need, please let me know. Gladys Gahona --chela5808 17:43, 23 January 2009 (UTC))

The Metric System

In the Metric system Metre is the unit measure of length, Are for surfaces, the Spere for solids, the Litre for capacity, the Gramme for weight.

Linear Measure

10 millimeters (mms) = 1 centimetre (cm)
10 cms = 1 decimetre (dm)
10 dms = 1 metre (m)
10 ms = 1 decametre (Dm)
10 Dms = 1 hectometre (Hm)
10 Hms = 1 kilometre (km)
10 kms = 1 Myriametre (Mm)

Surface or Square Measure

1 are = 100 square (sqs) metres
1 decare = 10 ares
1 hectare = 100 ares
1 deci-are = 1/10 of an Are
1 centi-are = 100 of an Are

Measure of Capacity

1 litre = 1000 cubic centimeters (c.c)
1 decalitre = 10 litres
1 hectolitre = 100 litres
1 kilolitre = 1000 litres
1 decilitre = 1/10 of a litre
1 centilitre = 1/100 of a litre
1 mililitre = 1000 litres

Measure of weight

10 milligrammes = 1 centigramme
10 centigrammes = 1 decigramme
10 decigrammes = 1 gramme
10 grammes = 1 decagramme
10 decagrammes = 1 hectogramme
10 hectogrammes = 1 kilogramme

British Weights and Measures
