The Seychelles

The Seychelles consists of 115 granite and coral islands and is 4 and 10 degrees south of the equator and on the east coast of Africa in the western Indian Ocean. The Seychelles is a member of both the Francophone and the Commonwealth communities.

For me, what is important right now is that we have been able to build a community of experts in the development of e-learning materials. This group is working “collaboratively” on two programmes. This is a significant step in the right direction.

In my opinion, the VUSSC initiative will have multiple purposes one of which is to help narrow the digital divide that exist in the world. In addition to this, it will also provide a platform for online collaboration.

Being a member of the Commonwealth, the Seychelles is indeed pleased to be part of this initiative and I as an individual, I am very happy to part in the making of history on the open content front. We have just started to scratch the surface at this point in time and the real work has just begun.

The challenge for me now is that we need to map out on how we keep this online collaboration going and to ensure that we maintain this momentum. Working virtually in own country is going to be a great challenge.

What a splendid experience this has been for me and I would like to take this opportunity to thank COL, my own country, Seychelles and all the participants who have made this daunting task so enjoyable. I left home thinking that this was going to be a really difficult exercise but it turned out to be just the opposite.

Well done everybody.
