My Interests

Professional

  • Currently pursuing a Counselling Certificate in an attempt to better relate to, understand and help those I teach.
  • I enjoy learning about the new web-tools and technologies, we are still trying to grasp the depths of what the WWW has to offer.

Personal

  1. I enjoy Origami, and I "specialize" in miniature creations :-)
  2. I'm also very much involved in community/charity work, but with the philosophy of providing the tools to help yourself, not having it done for you.

My Projects

Tools currently used within my classroom

  • Currently I'm experimenting with Twiducate which is a social networking site for schools. It is an alternative to using facebook (which students love) and allows for a secure setting (which I like).
So far, I'm using it to:
  1. Post topic with objective and what accomplished in class, for those who were absent or maybe would like to a review of classes. This also helps me keep track of where each class has reached.
  2. Remind students about assignments
  3. Provide links to various websites with information
  4. Discuss additional topics using links or pictures

Always learning...Experimenting with other Tools

  • I am being introduced to the wiki world - creating one that is ;-)
    Of course using WikiEducator.

My Reflection

I am attending a workshop (eL4C41) in an attempt to learn to create wikis. The workshop is well organised with helpful tutorials, which means it's easy to catch up if you miss a few days :-)
The Course Facilitators, Patricia and Michael, have shown alot of encouragement and I would like to thank them for the messages and for patiently accommodating our questions.--Rehanna Lutchman 05:52, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
