Professional Background

Simon-Peter Kafui Aheto is an educationist by profession. He holds a Doctor of Technology (Information Technology) from Cape Peninsula University of Technology and a Post Graduate Diploma (Educational Technology) from the University of Cape town all in Cape Town, South Africa. He also holds a Master in Education with an emphasis in Information Communication Technology from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana. He has several years experience teaching courses in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Science and Mathematics. He also has keen interests in educational consultancy services, small business development, environmental projects, community services and youth activities. Currently, Kafui Aheto works at the College of Distance Education (CoDE), University of Cape Coast, Ghana. In addition, he is a Mentor for the Centre for Teacher Development & Action Research (CETDAR) of the Institute of Education and Extension (IEDE), University of Education, Winneba, Ghana and the Presbyterian Women College of Education (PWCE), Aburi of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. As a Mentor he guides Student-teachers from the University on a year long internship for their professional development.

Brief description of project
                        Topic: Interesting Lessons from Cherished Ghanaian Values

Preamble: Ghanaians are very good and hospitable people, I grew up in a community where the values of Ghanaian culture are much respected. Most of these values have not been able to survive through time due to technological advancement as many young people also see them as outmoded. Nevertheless, most of these cultural practices still carry a lot of logic, worth, lessons and scientific significance for us. We shall read and learn very interesting things about the some rich and cherished culture of the Ghanaian people.

Objectives: By the end of the the project learners/ participants would be able to:

1. Identify at least four Cherished Ghanaian Values.

2. Explain at least three significance of any three Cherished Ghanaian Values.

3. Discover through Research any two Cherished Ghanaian Values.

4. Identify any three significance of the two Cherished Ghanaian Values Identified in their research.
Resources and Strategies: -WikiEducator, World Wide Web, Blog, Online assistance/ Workshop, Collaboration, E-mail, Discussions (WikiEducator)
Target Group: Life-long learners, Educators, Students, Africans, Historians, Anthropologists, Tourists, Youth Activists/Leaders.
