Talk pages & LQT
How can I just use normal/default MediaWiki Help:talk pages? (Perhaps I should use non-talk pages for more conventional MW-style talk instead? (e.g., as demonstrated here - Wiki reflections i.e., discussion on a mainspace page rather than its accompanying LQT talk page)
- Past discussions on my user talk page seem to have been automatically archived? How can I prevent this and do manual archiving instead?
- When someone has posted to my talk page, I get a notification box when on some pages, but not others? Even after I've been to read the message on the talk page, I still seem to get the notification box showing? When I click on the new messages link it takes me to SpecialNewmessages rather than my talk page? Basically, I'm confused about 'talk' is meant to work on this wiki.

- Thanks for this reply; I guess count me in the con votes for LQT (is there somewhere to discuss this further?) - for me, LQT is messy and confusing and is one of the reasons I mostly adopting WV over WE. -- Jtneill - Talk 04:20, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
- Fair comment -- some folk like LQT others don't. It does have numerous benefits which many WE's find useful. WV is also an exciting project and also subscribes to the Free Cultural Works Definition. - There seems to be a bug with displaying threads with ampersands in the titles? e.g., Thread:Templates & Categories (1) doesn't work (this is how it displays in recent changes), but you can see the thread by going to the discussion page of Talk:Create and maintain a basic weblog. -- Jtneill - Talk 01:19, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- One of the issues for me with LQT is that when I looked at recent changes, I see items such as Thread:Is anything missing from this page? (1). Because it bears no clear relation to a specific page, I am more inclined to ignore and not reply. -- Jtneill - Talk 02:26, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
