Tevita Jitoko's WIKI PAGE

As an Education Technologist at DFL, CFDL my current work involves managing minor adjustment courses via DFL mode and support online courses via Moodle – USP’s online learning management system. I have been involved with our web development team responsible for updating and maintaining our website. :-).


Professional background

2008 - 2010 Course Design and Development (CDD), Centre for Flexible Distance Learning (CFDL), University of the South Pacific As an Education Technologist at DFL, CFDL my current work involves managing minor adjustment courses via DFL mode and support online courses via Moodle – USP’s online learning management system. I have been involved with our web development team responsible for updating and maintaining our CEDT website. Moodle offers a variety of online learning tools such as virtual discussion forums and chatting online mechanisms. Also effective with assessment tools administration such as setting up online assignment drop boxes and online quizzes. I have conducted workshops with students and USP teaching staff on beginners and advanced Moodle modules. Apart from conducting workshops I have also coordinated training manuals, Moodle workshops and other training documents. I have also done some main scripting with a few of my Moodle courses and was involved in converting Information Literacy Programme (ILP) modules into eight Moodle shells for our DFL students. I have been a member of DFL Library in a box committee. I have attended the Greenstone training with Chris Thrasher (Library Systems Manager) where our committee members are to be involved with some or all of the testing of the multimedia components of our DFL courses. I have attended the Advanced Greenstone training conducted by Chris Thrasher (Library Systems Manager) on the 4th of December, 2008 which covers advanced tools beyond Graphical User Interface (GLI), Greenstone Digital Library Software (GSDL) file structure, moving/synchronizing entire collections and editing files that you cannot get to with GLI. 2008 University of The South Pacific South Laucala Campus, Suva Part Time Tutor For Computer Literacy (ISF21) a unit in the Foundation level.  Teaching students on Computer Literacy related topics such as Introduction to Microsoft Windows and Managing files with my computer.  Responsibilities include teaching students on how to use Moodle and engage students with constant online social presence. 2006 University of The South Pacific South Laucala Campus, Suva Part Time Tutor For Curriculum Studies Workshop (ED 350)  Teaching Degree 3 level students on Computer Studies Curriculum.  Member of the Curriculum Working Committee on revising IT Curriculum in Secondary Schools (Form 5-7) 2002 – 2008 (March) Ministry of Education-Suva Grammar School, Dudley High School, TVET Section, Form Seven College Computer Teacher  Teaching Form 5 to 7 Basic Computer Courses and programming languages such as BASIC and PASCAL (similar to Perl)  Administered housekeeping duties in the laboratory.  Attended Information Technology Workshops organized by the Ministry of Education, Technical and Vocational Education (TVET).
