Professional background

I am Head of Learning Area - Science at Alfriston College (AC).  Alfriston College is a great school to work at as you are encouraged to try new things with the aim of developing Independent Learners.  New wikieducators at AC, all of whom I consder myself lucky to be working and learning alongside, are Lynda Shanks, Karyn White and Sharra Martin.  I have been at Alfriston since 2006, prior to this I was at St Cuthbert's College working with some great staff including wikieducator users; Mark Osborne and Mary Robinson.  I started my teaching career at Manurewa High School in a very strong science faculty under the leadership of Christine Howard.

I was an executive member and treasurer of New Zealand Association of Science Educators from 1998-2006 and have been involved in Curriculum and Assessment development throughout my career.

Education

I love learning.....love it, love it, love it!

Formally - I have a BSc from Auckland University and a Diploma in Teaching from the Auckland College of Education.  Informally - my education is ongoing... I enjoy learning every day, from all sorts of people.

I have been involved in a lot of professional development - pedagogy, literacy, thinking, IT and Te Kotahitanga.  I am starting a Masters in Teaching and Learning at Massey University in the second half of the year.
