About Me

Hi, I'm Elia Grant-Fraser and I was introduced to Wikieducator in 2006 when I attended the first VUSSC bootcamp in Mauritius. I was born in to a large family of 10 in Pointe a Pierre in Trindad and Tobago. At an early age, I had varying interests from the performing arts to marine biology to landscape architecture. Never once did I image that I would gravitate toward the field of education and educatonal technology. Perhaps it's because my mother was a teacher and three of my sisters were educators. Anyway, after my bachelor's degree, I went on to obtain a Master's degree in Educational Technology from Concordia University, Montreal.

About Trinidad and Tobago

Port of Spain, Trinidad
Fort King George, Tobago
Trinidad and Tobago is the most southerly isle of the Caribbean, just a few miles off the South American country of Venezuela. Here are a few photos from this beautiful twin island nation.

About what I do

I have been an educator for almost 20 years now teaching from the primary to tertiary levels. At present, I work at the Ministry of Education in the Distance Education Unit. One of our major programmes at the unit is National Open School of Trinidad and Tobago. I am currently the Courseware Design and Development Manager for this initiative. I am also a part time lecturer at the University of the West Indies and have been involved in instructional design for the Virtual University for Small States of the Commonwealth as well as UWI Open Campus.
