About Me

My name is Damaru Lal Bhandari, and I work for CRSC Nepal.

EDUCATION

  • Three-year Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Political Science, University of Bombay.

  • Intermediate in Arts, K G Joshi College, Bombay.

EXPERIENCE

Feb 2008- present 

The assignment involves translating community radio related reports, curricula and study reports while also writing proposals.
Working under the guidance of Raghu Mainali, CRSC Coordinator.

April 2004-2007

Acting Bureau Chief of the Himalayan Times.

My job was to lead, inspire, guide and motivate the 18 member reporting team and conducting newsroom meetings to decide new priority.

  • Senior Assistant Editor, Space Time Today, a daily newspaper, which has subsequently folded up.

BRIEF CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

  • Was member of the 36-member prime ministerial contingent when Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala went on a state visit to India after the 2006 political change.
  • Has received PME training as part of the arrangement with Free Voice from Colombo-based MDF South Asia in Kathmandu.
  • Drew up a "Master Plan On Development of Wetland Surrounding Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve" after entering an agreement with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Nepal in 2002.
  • Was a lead researcher for German Development Cooperation (DED) to conduct a survey of its clients' satisfaction.
  • Have translated three (3) books on community radio from English into Nepali language for CRSC Nepal.
  • Have edited two (2) doctoral theses.
  • Have translated a book on Nepalese political developments which unfolded after February 1, 2005 for Columbia University.
  • Have served as lead researcher/consultant for German Development Cooperation (DED) to conduct a survey of customer satisfaction.
  • Have attended scores of seminars and workshops on development-related themes, including communication and development.
