My Profile

Professional Background

Initially, a primary school teacher, then entered the technical and further education field (TAFENSW), moved on to tertiary educational designer, and educational consultant to business and industry, now bringing it all together in research.

My Interests

Professional

As you can see in my profile, I work for the University of New England. I am a Research Fellow with DEHub. My primary focus in this role is Community and Online Learning. We are interested in distance education, which no longer really means that teacher and student need think of themselves as being 'distant'. I prefer to think of the new term of 'ubiquitous' learning as more encompassing. Of course, we are also beginning a new direction of considering the learners and their creation of a 'personal learning environment' PLE as the next generation of acknowledging that we each build our own knowledge by choosing when and how we will learn something.

I am very interested in making contacts around the world to investigate numerous topics. I have added my name to the DE Hub Research Networks list. Please add yours and suggest a strategy for collaborating.

Very nice to meet you here. WikiEducator is a very warm and comfortable community. () . If there is any way I can help you, please let me know (coloured backgrounds, margins, user pages in multiple languages). Come visit my user page. Also, just to remind you, I put up a new page on which you can practice collaborating, by using your editorial skills included in the tutorial. See: Alternative Teaching methods and add your comments, criticisms, more methods, or reflections. Just try it. Cheers, Phil. --Phil Bartle 10:44, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
