The University of Education,Winneba (UEW) established in 1992 initially as the University College of Education from seven (7) Diploma awarding institutions, is committed to the development of education on the continent through the training of the country's human resource. Through the support of the Partnership for Higher Education in Africa - and in collaboration with the FLOSS4Edu and Winneba Open Digital Village initiated by oneVillage Foundation, Ghana, the University has started this project to develop Open Educational Resources that are available for use within the University Community and with other partners globally.

The University of Education,Winneba based in Ghana is a network committed to the collaborative development of free content resources for education.

WikiEducator Wins MANeLA Award

WikiEducator just received the MANeLA award at the just ended e-Learning Africa conference on 30th May, 2008. Our work on the UEW site played a key role in this award.

About forty (40) UEW lecturers were trained to develop online educational content from March 3 - 5, 2008 at the Winneba Open Digital Village. Almost every department in UEW was represented. The three (3) day workshop concentrated on the upload of educational content including courses outlines, assignments, publications, etc.

The workshop wase facilitated by Mr. Kafui Amenu Prebbie (UEW) and Mr. Nicholas Kimolo (FLOSS4Edu, Kenya). They were supported by two pedagogical designers within the project team, Prof. Jonas Akpanglo-Nartey and Mr. Yaw Sakyi-Baidoo.
