Thoughts about target objectives for OER

Jump to: navigation, search

I like the way that OER related goals are embedded within the learning and teaching strategy, as opposed to a separate OER strategy. OER needs to be part of mainstream activities -- not something separate in my view.

I think it is useful to have specified goals, activities and responsibilities for OER related objectives. Otago Poly is a world leader with its Creative Commons intellectual property policy. We now have an opportunity to build on solid foundations.

Possible ideas for objectives:

  • By the end of 2012, every course at Otago Polytechnic incorporates a minimum of 1 notional learning hour of flexible / blended learning materials based on OER.
  • By the end of 2013, every school has at least one full course based on OER
  • etc
