historical research

historical research is one type of research. there are following points in this- 1. what is the nature of historical research 2.difference in historical research and other research. 3.types of historical research 4.steps in research -selection of a problem- in this we have to choose a topic which is related to historical research like ideas of a particular thinker, education method of a particular time etc.

2.formulation of hypotheses 3. collection of data- there are two types of data in this- primary data and secondary data.we have to use both the data.primary data is autobiographies, coins, diaries, official documents. 4.criticism of data- this is two types. internal and external. 5.interpretaion of data. 6. writing the research report

I am student of m.ed. My research area is Disaster Management in 10th class. I found in starting days of my research no practical activities being conducted in diaster management classes. Most of the school teachers give theoritical project work in classes. most of the teachers say that disaster management activities should be organised practically in the school with the help social organizations,eg. fire-brigade, doctor team and police etc.

laboratory activities in school

I'm an M.ed scholar doing a dissertation on "Linkage between Theory and Laboratory Activities in Physics". laboratory activities have always been considered as a crucial component of science teaching in schools.

hi this is yogesh singla doing Ph.D. from KUK. at present i'm at the CIE e-learning workshop. and learning to use wikieducator from wayne mackintosh.

New Discuss

I am Mamolete D Mohapi from the National University of Lesotho in Lesotho. I am supervising the participants working from home for the preparation of the Singapore Bootcamp2 to be held from 12th to end of March 2007. In my helping assignment, I was frustrated by the slowness to open of the pages where information is installed. I am not sure whether I am experiencing the problem because of the technology I am using or something else. The other problem is the amount of information the participants have to go through before they conceptualise the wikieducator technology tool. My experience was that I had to wait for three to four minutes for the page can open. Once it is open and the participant starts working on the content, be it introduction or content itself, he or she will start jumping enjoying what is discovered. Besides the problem of slowness and too much information, the exercise is very interesting - interacting with people one has never seen before. --Dmmohapi 10:27, 9 March 2007 (CET)Lesotho

Terms & Definitions

There is a need for wikieducator to develop some standard terms and define them when talking of courseware. What is a Lesson, a Module, a Unit, a Credit etc... These Would be guidleines and one can deviate from them, but it would be expected that the deviation is explained (e.g. because it is courseware from/for a country where the terms are used differently) --Phsi 08:22, 26 March 2007 (CEST)

  • Try to go with the same terminology as Wikiversity. Their unit is a "learning project". Their definition of such a thing seems to fit with what WikiEducator is doing. McCormack 08:06, 28 March 2007 (CEST)

Main Page Header box restructuring

On request from COL and other members of Wikieducator community I'm now researching the entire architecture of the side bar navigation boxes and toolbox, the main page header box, and the Community Portal and Events areas. I'd like to start a discussion here just about the Header Box (the one that starts with Welcome to WikiEducator) for now, although some of my ideas impact the others. Let's move discussion on this here so as to not clutter this page too much: MainPageHeaderBox.

Link to Open ICDL not working. -- Kruhly 07:29, 4 May 2007 (CEST)

Thanks for the notification - I've sent an email to one of the board members of the Open ICDL to find out what's going on. --Mackiwg 08:00, 4 May 2007 (CEST)
The main link to the OpenICDL is - which is working - however a google search renders a url that is not active. --Mackiwg 08:12, 4 May 2007 (CEST)
Do you think this is the correct link? development version of courseware -- Kruhly 03:37, 18 May 2007 (CEST)
Yip - that looks like the right one. --Mackiwg 06:31, 18 May 2007 (CEST)

Wikiversity link

I'd like to put a link to Wikiversity on the front page of WikiEducator. Any suggestions as to where this might go are welcome. I'm tempted to put on the Community section that you see on the right, although 'traditionally' this would be for links inside the wiki we're in... so perhaps not. thoughts? (or else i'll just be bold) brent 02:38, 18 May 2007 (CEST)

Brent my view would be to create a subsection on the Community Portal page for related free content projects in Education. Here we should list Wikiversity, Connexions & the OER grapevine wiki. --Mackiwg 06:30, 18 May 2007 (CEST) Be bold!

Removal of Countries

I've removed "Countries" from the manu under the Welcome to Wikieducator message because it doesn't conceptually fit with what the intent of that bar is. About | Using WikiEducator | FAQs are grouped like this because they are pages that help people figure out what and how to use WikiEducator specifically -- what the project is about and how to use it. "Countries" doesn't really fit into this. I also feel that on the left hand side nav "countries" would be better under community than in Navigation. It's not a page that I'd imagine people needing to use most of the time, as the others are. brent 00:49, 18 September 2007 (CEST)

I see the logic of your argument. Randy also makes a strong point that its important for community building purposes for folk to "connect" as quickly as possible with what is happening in their country - if nothing's happening to start a page for the country. Yip there needs to be a link to the countries page in the community portal - but this gets lost will all the info and time it takes for the community page to load. Any ideas or suggestions for a smart workaround?
Ideally we should think about prime real estate for countries page - the prime purpose is for Newbies to connect with the project. --Wayne Mackintosh 01:11, 18 September 2007 (CEST)
Wayne, i didn't mean that countries only goes to the Community Portal section but rather that it goes into the community box (under nav on the left), ie. MediawikiSidebar. It seems to me that a Countries page is an attempt to solidify communities around the notion of countries, which would fit the community box better than the navigation one. brent 09:40, 18 September 2007 (CEST)
Aah - got ya, that makes sense. Cheers. --Wayne Mackintosh 06:48, 20 September 2007 (CEST)

The markup for the header seems awfully messy to me. Maybe we should split the Main page off into sub-pages and then transclude them for clarity. And then clean up the markup.

--Phsi 09:23, 18 September 2007 (CEST)

Phsi: I had intended to have the header transcluded but just never got round to it. Feel free. It will make it easier to work on as well. brent 09:38, 18 September 2007 (CEST)
