Meet Wayne Mackintosh

Wayne is the founder of WikiEducator and founding director of the OER Foundation. He is coordinating the establishment of the OER university, an international innovation partnership which aims to provide free learning opportunities for all students worldwide with pathways for OER learners to achieve credible credentials. Wayne is also director of the International Centre for Open Education at Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand, serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the OER Foundation and is the holder of the UNESCO-Commonwealth of Learning Chair in OER at Otago Polytechnic. Wayne is a member of the Advisory Board of the Wikimedia Foundation, Creative Commons New Zealand and the Monterey Institute for Technology and Education

Meet Rory McGreal

A free content video streamed from Vimeo Rory McGreal, Athabasca University. Professor Rory McGreal is the UNESCO/COL Chairholder in Open Educational Resources. He is a professor in the Centre for Distance Education at Athabasca University – Canada’s Open University based in Alberta, Canada. He is also the director of the Technology Enhanced Knowledge Research Institute (TEKRI). Formerly, he served as the Associate Vice President Research. He was previously the Executive Director of TeleEducation NB TéléÉducation, a bilingual (French/English) province-wide distance learning network. In this capacity, Rory McGreal’s team implemented the world’s first distance education website, a learning management system and the TeleCampus, a comprehensive learning object metadata database of online courses. For these and other accomplishments, he was given the prestigious Wedemeyer Award for Distance Education practitioner in 2002. Professor McGreal served on the Canadian Federal Information Highway Advisory Committee, on the Board of the TeleLearning Research Network of Centres of Excellence, the Commonwealth of Learning’s Knowledge Management Group and the Education Steering Committee for CANARIE, Canada's broadband research network. Presently, he is a representative to the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, on the Advisory Board of the Canadian Virtual University. Internationally, he is a member of the Global Advisory Council of the Observatory of Borderless Higher Education, a Director of the OER Foundation, and a member of the Distance Education Hub, Advisory Group, Australia. He is on the editorial board or a reviewer for a variety of scholarly journals. He has been an invited Keynote at more than 40 Canadian and international conferences.

Meet Ebba Ossiannilsson

Ebba Ossiannilsson, is a Project Manager at the Centre for Educational Development, and the Evaluation Office at Lund University, Sweden. In Dec 2012 she was appointed to take the lead for Lund University in moving forward with open education, MOOCs and OERs and to investigate e-learning strategy for Lund University. Ebba is a former participant of OCL4Ed and now volunteering her time to facilitate this year's workshop. Ebba earned her PhD from Oulu University focusing on international benchmarking, quality and quality enhancement on e-learning in Higher Educational Institutions. Ebba works as consultant in a number of local, regional, national and international projects and governmental commissions in a wide range of areas including lifelong learning, internationalization, e-learning, ODL and many facets of open education (OERs, OEP, and user generated content). She is well known for her work in international benchmarking projects and quality of e-learning and on quality/quality enhancement and learning in digital contexts and extended learning environments. She works on international and national MOOCs and OER-projects, including local and regional implementation of OER/OEP/OEC. She serves as a consultant for many national universities going towards open education and on quality issues. Recently she together with collegues launched and developed the MOOC Quality project by EFQUEL. Ebba is a board member in several national and international organizations within the areas of e-learning/lifelong learning, widening recruitment, internationalization and innovative learning in digital extended learning contexts as well as quality related issues. Ossiannilsson is Dept. Director for epprobate, the international label for quality in e-learning courseware, as well as certified head reviewer and national partner in Epprobate. Recently she launched and contributed to the development of the Nordic Alliance for Open Education. She works as a Service development partner at OER Services. She has also contributed, developed, and organized OER-courses at OER-services. She is Dept. Director of the Swedish Association for Distance Education (SVERD). She has recently been appointed as the Swedish partner for Campus NooA. Ebba’s research interests are in collaborative learning from the rhizome perspectives, on the challenges of creating and sharing cultures and innovative learning spaces as OER and MOOCs and benchmarking and quality related issues. She is active in sharing trends and innovation and the utilization of technology in the educational sector in social media and networks.
