Joining a large university, polytechnic or college as a new staff member can be a daunting experience. First you need to familiarise yourself with the layout of the physical premises to find out where different departments of the organisation are located and get to know new colleagues. There are also new policies and procedures to learn. The process of learning about a new organisation takes time.

The OERu is no different. We are a large international organisation comprising partners from Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and the Middle East. The OERu is a distributed organisation spanning many time zones and our open design and development approaches will be new to many staff joining the OERu cooperation. T

This learning pathway will help you find your way around the OERu neighbourhood but appreciate that it is quite normal that it may take a while to familiarise yourself with the range of processes, technologies and operations in our organisation. However, help is close at hand for those willing to ask using the support technologies at your disposal.

Objectives

During this learning pathway you will:

  1. Distinguish between the public face and operational web sites used by the OERu
  2. Be introduced to the main websites used to support the implementation of the OERu
  3. Discover how to navigate the OERu planning pages
  4. Visit the different communication sites used for communications in the OERu family
  5. Observe the communication conventions for different components of the OERu operation
  6. Register accounts on the communication sites relevant to your own interests and gain hands on experience in using these technologies.
