The Foreign Language Centre of Acharya Narendra Dev College offers part time Certificate and Diploma courses in French, German, Russian and Spanish languages. The duration of these courses is one academic session. The Certificate courses are for the beiginners and prior knowledge of the language is not required. The Diploma courses are for the students who have cleared the certificate course.

Eligibility Requirements

Certificate Courses

The candidate should have passed Senior School Certificate Examination (10 + 2) of Central board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or an equivalent examination, with at least 45 % marks in the aggregate for French, German, Spanish and at least 55% in the aggregate for Russian.

Diploma Courses

Candidates who have cleared the Certificate Examination of Delhi University in the language concerned or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible to apply for admission in the Diploma Course in the respective language. Admission will be made strictly in order of merit of the respective certificate course examination. Candidates who have obtained their Certificate in the language from any other institution or those obtaining Certificate one year before the year of admission in Diploma will be required to appear in the admission test to be conducted by the College.

When to apply

  • The admission process starts in the second week of June with the distribution of admission forms.
  • The first cut-off list for the admission is displayed in the secon week of July
  • The classes begin in the first week of August

Time of Classes

  • The classes begin in the first week of August(tentative; to be decided by the University)

The classes are held in the college premises on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. for Diploma courses and from 5.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. for Certificate courses for all four languages.


Generally, the Examinations of these courses are held in the month of March. A student will be deemed to have passed the examinations on securing 50% marks in aggregate and 40% marks in each paper separately except in Spanish where the minimum marks required to pass the examination will be 40% in aggregate and 40% in each written and oral paper. A student securing 75% marks or more in the aggregate will be deemed to have passed with distinction.
