Focus statements: compare your answers with our suggestions

These are the two focus statements we came up with when listening to the radio programmes:

• The Haitian woman is concerned about the health of her children BECAUSE rice is getting too expensive.
• Grace takes ARVs BECAUSE she wants to survive for her grandson.

Your focus statement may not be exactly the same as ours but should be along these lines.

Also note how the second audio file about Grace is a good example of how to use sound to help tell a story. Both of these examples highlight how a complicated issue can be expressed through human story.
