ELT Lexical Syllabus - the teachers' guide

Road Works.svg Work in progress, expect frequent changes. Help and feedback is welcome. See discussion page. Road Works.svg

The idea of this resource is to make a teachers' guide for vocabulary learning. This main page explains the approach from the point of view of teachers and material writers. It has sub-pages which serve as an organising principle for lesson materials at the four levels, and students of English as a foreign or second language can go directly to these.

Objectives
teachers who have read this guide will
  1. have word lists relating to different levels,
  2. understand how to create materials appropriate for these levels,
  3. understand the scheme for organising materials by level in this part of wikieducator

Do you know that if you take a piece of English text, the word "the" will be the one that repeats most often? In fact on average it will appear about once in every 16 words anybody writes or speaks.
